Fitness for Heroes Challenge

Catch A Lift would like to invite you to participate in our Fitness for Heroes Challenge. The goal of this challenge is for gyms across the country to help CAL raise $250,000 in 2015 to send Post 9/11 wounded veterans to gym facilities all over the U.S. or purchase new in-home gym equipment to help aid in their mental and physical recovery.

What is Catch A Lift Fund?

Catch A Lift is a 501c3 non-profit organization which pays for post 9/11 wounded warriors to attend any gym they choose anywhere in the U.S. If a vet cannot get to a gym or prefers to work out at home, CAL provides in home gym equipment to these vets. Founded in memory of Baltimore native, Cpl. Chris Coffland, CAL is now growing at a rate of 150 new applications each month from men and women in need of our services.

Your gym will receive from CAL:

What CAL needs from your gym:

Challenges:

The below challenges are suggestions put forth by CAL. If your gym has had fundraisers in the past or has a different idea, please let us know.

1. Cardio for Camo:

2. Lift-A-Thon Challenge

3. Ultimate Triathlon Challenge

4. Crossfit Facilities:

Host a WOD or a day of WOD's where the registration fee is donated to CAL. Because this kind of fundraiser is how your gym already operates, it is easy to execute and could be done on a monthly or quarterly basis. Crossfit owners: you've done this before, so tell us what works for you!

5. Kickboxing and Martial Arts Facilities:

Host a kickboxing marathon! Members can reserve bags for a fee of $25 ($20 to CAL and $5 to the gym for administrative fees or donated back to CAL) and see how many consecutive hits they can get in. Participants can get sponsors to give $.10 per punch. These facilities can also host a class and charge participants a fee which can then be donated to CAL.

6. Yoga Facilities:

Host a yoga class where registration fees are donated to CAL. Because this kind of fundraiser is how your facility already operates, it is easy to execute and could be done on a monthly or quarterly basis. Yoga Facility owners: you've done this before, so tell us what works for you!

Where does the registration money go? The money raised by your gym helps Catch A Lift purchase gym memberships and home gym equipment for the over 1,400 heroes in our program. For those vets that want to go to the gym, Catch A Lift allows vets to choose any gym in the U.S. and pays for their memberships on a yearly basis. CAL, with the help of our volunteers, tracks these vets throughout their first year, making sure they utilize their membership, reach their goals, and feel good about their improvement both mentally and physically.

When can you start?

Whenever you would like! We have templates, flyers, pledge cards for donations, and other material to aid you in the running of this event. Once we have your commitment and dates locked in, your gym will be listed as one of our Gyms Across America on our website as well as on our social media pages. All of the above challenges can modified to fit the way your gym operates. Please email Katelyn Rockwell at katelyn@catchaliftfund.com to commit your gym to the Fitness for Heroes Challenge!
